Aside from reminiscing about finding love in a liminal space, the highlight of my time at the HDS bicentennial was picking up these gems in Drew Faust's address: She quoted the late Rev. Dr. Peter Gomes (a black, republican, gay, baptist, self-identified "Harvard-type") as saying "My anomalies make it possible to advance the conversation," and former HDS student and civil war chaplain Arthur Fuller as remarking that "goodness and usefulness" should be our ultimate aims. I am thrilled to celebrate the 200th birthday of a place committed to furthering conversation, honoring anomalies, and promoting goodness and usefulness. So many for this special place. #hds200
