Biographical Note:

Ichabod Nichols (1784-1859) was born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He graduated from Harvard College in 1802, and was ordained as a Unitarian minister in 1809 at the First Congregational Church of Portland, Maine, where he served until 1855. During his career, Nichols served as a trustee of Bowdoin College, vice president of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and president of the American Unitarian Association from 1837 to 1844. In 1830, he published his Natural Theology. Two other volumes were published posthumously, Hours with the Evangelists and Remembered Words: From the Sermons of Reverend Ichabod Nichols. Nichols died in Cambridge, Massachusetts, at the age of 74.
