Organization Description:

Located in the heart of Cambridge, Peace House is a beautiful, sacred space in which monastics, lay people, non-religious, and religious can explore, contemplate, and practice in community. As an emerging nonprofit organization, we are nurturing a community of contemplatives, explorers, and seekers. Peace House provides a welcoming space and programming centered around peace, belonging, and community for all people. (Read more about our programs and offerings here: https://www.cambridgepeacehouse.org/visit) In service to our neighborhood and wider community, Peace House hosts special events and programs, and makes space available to other organizations doing work consistent with our mission.

Opportunities for Student Involvement:

Peace House is an ideal location for a student to explore spiritual development and pastoral care in a setting that is explicitly interfaith/multifaith while also rooted in Buddhism. We would also welcome students interested in exploring emergent co-ministry between monastics and lay people, or monasticism in a nontraditional setting. We also welcome students curious about building a radically inclusive and meaningful multi-faith community. More broadly, we welcome students who have ideas for programming or community initiatives they’d like to design and lead. In many ways, Peace House offers a blank slate and curious community to which students can offer innovative programs. If a student is curious to learn more about the day-to-day operations and administration of a startup nonprofit, that is also possible.

Peace House is located in mid-Cambridge and is accessible by walking, bus, and T. We are a 10-minute walk from the Central T stop and 20-minute walk from the HDS campus or Harvard Square.
