Organization Description:

Brigham and Women’s Hospital is a 793-bed Harvard teaching hospital, a Level 1 trauma center, providing nationally ranked care in a number of medical specialties including cancer and cardiology, second only – within Massachusetts -- to Mass General Hospital in size and reputation.

Opportunities for Student Involvement:

Chaplain Interns provide spiritual care for patients, families, and staff. They will gain experience working within an interdisciplinary health care team in providing patient care. They will develop their skills as reflective listeners; learn to hold space for patients’ questions and suffering; and refine their personal theology. They will learn to serve people of all faiths as well as those of no faith.

The Harvard Shuttle operates to the Longwood Medical Area. (M2)

  • Pastoral Care and Counseling
  • Preaching and Worship

Supervision:

There will be a planned weekly supervisory meeting and written assignments including verbatims and theological reflections. In addition to daytime hours, there will be the option of overnight on-calls and the option of weekend on-calls. Hours should total between 12 and 15 a week.
