Organization Description:

Youville House is a dynamic assisted living residence located in the heart of Cambridge, just minutes from Harvard and Inman Squares. It is an eight story, 95-unit residential model of living with a mission to provide healing and care for the whole person. Youville House’s Judeo-Christian tradition promotes the values of compassion, integrity, collaboration, and excellence in the care that we give and in the relationships we foster. Meeting each resident's individual needs, while preserving each individual's dignity and privacy, is at the core of our service to older adults.

Opportunities for Student Involvement:

The student will be responsible for providing spiritual care to residents of different religious traditions and those with no particular affiliation. The student will be able to prepare and lead programs on such topics as world religions and practices, relevant spiritual care and psychosocial topics as well as lead meditation and prayer groups. Memorial and prayer services may also be part of the student's responsibilities. The director will be involved with the planning of these events. The student will be invited to attend weekly resident review meetings with the interdisciplinary team to hear how Youville House takes care of the whole person. There will be an opportunity for the student to travel to our Lexington site, which has a memory care unit; the student will have the opportunity to minister to the spiritual needs of residents who have dementia.
