Organization Description:

This site is on sabbatical for academic year 2024-2025 and will not be accepting students. Life Together's mission is to raise up a generation of prayerful and prophetic young adult leaders for the church and the world. Life Together hosts adults 21-32 years of age, called Micah Fellows, for a 10-month, post-graduate fellowship of justice-based service, Christian intentional community and leadership training. Our central office is based out of Boston, MA and we have intentional community and work sites in Lawrence, MA and Fall River/New Bedford. Rooted in a practicing faith-community, staff and fellows at Life Together are committed to following the Jesus Way through cultivation of communal, contemplative and missional leadership arts. Life Together Fellows live in intentional Christian community houses; engage in 30 hours a week of service or community organizing work through internships at diverse partner organizations through great Boston, Cambridge, Lawrence and New Bedford/Fall River (congregations and non-profits); receive training in community building, contemplative practice and reflective leadership and community organizing; and receive ongoing support in vocational discernment and spiritual direction. Life Together is a strategic initiative of the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts and an affiliate program of Episcopal Service Corps, a national network of similar programs throughout the nation.

Opportunities for Student Involvement:

We are looking for persons who will work directly with the Executive Director in growing the fund development capacity of the organization through foundation research, relationship building with local regional and national foundation leaders, grant writing, individual donor cultivation and event planning. Life Together is interested in someone who has a desire to grow their leadership gifts of Administration and Program Development in an organization that pays attention to the nexus between Christian faith identity and social change. Life Together is engaged in multiple ecologies that rarely converge including: Christian vocational discernment and leadership development, progressive social change, parish-based missional work and community organizing. The FE Student would be exposed to the work of these various ecologies and would be learning to articulate the power of these partnerships and networks for individual and social transformation. We believe that the Life Together placement will be interesting to students who have a call to vocation in non-profit management and congregational leadership. Organizationally, Life Together is also committed to exploring the integration of the inner work of prayer, spiritual practice and reflection with the outer work of administration, reconciliation and justice. Our staff team meets weekly for spiritual practice, planning and accountability and coaching.
