Organization Description:
Newton-Wellesley Hospital is a 250-bed community hospital and a member of Partners Healthcare. Our patients reflect the diverse population of the greater Boston area and our chaplaincy staff provides interfaith spiritual care to people from many of the world's faith traditions.
Opportunities for Student Involvement:
Student interns may serve in specialty areas including Oncology, Surgery, Medicine, Maternity. Didactic lessons include end of life issues, spiritual assessment, providing interfaith spiritual care, ministering to families, and exploring faith communities' responses to the changing healthcare needs of congregants. Exploring pastoral identity and new visions of ministry are an important part of our program. Our education process is based on an action/reflection model of ministry.
Commute/Transportation Information:
The hospital is fully accessible. The Woodland stop on the Green Line is one block from the hospital. For those traveling by car, free parking is available. There is easy access to the hospital from the Mass. Pike, Rt. 128 and Rt. 16.

Supervision:
Chaplain Alyssa Adreani provides weekly individual supervision and theological reflection on-site. Students are in ministry for 10-12 hours per week on-site and receive travel and off-site preparation time. The Association of Professional Chaplains and the National Association of Catholic Chaplains have accepted this program as an equivalency for one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education. Students seeking this equivalency will need to complete a total of 400 hours.
