Organization Description:

The Bridge Program is an adult education and training program that provides the courses, services, and resources employees need to excel in their current role and meet their personal and professional goals. The majority of Bridge participants are Harvard service & trades workers (custodial, dining, security, etc.). Employees can select from a wide array of Bridge Program courses—ranging from Digital Learning and Business Writing to Pronunciation and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The Harvard Bridge Program also offers specialty programs—such as U.S. Citizenship preparation and High School Diploma preparation. The Bridge Program is open and free to benefits-eligible staff, hourly employees, and postdoctoral fellows who have Tuition Assistance Program (TAP benefits). Classes and tutoring sessions meet on campus, usually once or twice per week, before, during, and after work hours, as well as online through remote learning. Bridge has abbreviated classes and specialized programs in the summer.

Opportunities for Student Involvement:

The Field Education Intern will provide hands on support to help our employees reach their educational and career goals. The intern will serve as a Bridge Tutor providing subject area growth and support by helping employees develop confidence; involving them in decisions about the learning process; and selecting materials and approaches that are suitable for the adult learners’ ability and needs. Field Education Interns will tutor Bridge employees one-on-one or in small groups. Interns may also support lead instructors in the classroom, provide administration support, and research and develop small projects. Students can expect to employ a wide range of skills such as teaching, training, coaching, coordination, and administration.
