The Religious Literacy Project is located at the Harvard Divinity School and its mission is “to promote and enhance the public understanding of religion” from a nonsectarian perspective through education, open access resources, and research utilizing a cultural studies methodology. Opportunities for Student Involvement:
Opportunities for student involvement include the following:
- Supporting development of resources for educators on world history, American History, European history, English language arts, and stand-alone units and courses on “world religions;”
- Creating content for the site in the form of news summaries, and commentaries;
- Supporting the development of additional case studies highlighting intersections of religion with conflict and peace, climate change, gender and sexuality, and life as a minority in the United States.
- Developing new resources for educators related to religion and climate change / climate justice.
In addition to the options above, we are open to student generated proposals for any new initiatives related to the public understanding of religion that would both contribute to our wider efforts and correspond to a student’s particular vocational interests.
