GBIO is a broad-based power organization affiliated with the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF). The organization is comprised of a diverse mix of 98 institutions congregations, community groups and unions throughout the Greater Boston area. GBIO has formed to create social change. The student will have an opportunity to learn and practice the principles of broad-based organizing.

Opportunities for Student Involvement:

Students will gain hands-on experience in broad-based organizing through direct work with GBIO member institutions and/or prospective recruits. Work will include: 1) Practicing the skills of direct organizing to develop relational power within and among congregations, community groups and unions; 2) Engaging in research and planning for action campaigns around a variety of local justice issues; 3) Assisting a diversity of faith-based leaders in reflecting theologically on the exercise power for action and justice. Students will also have the opportunity to participate along with GBIO leaders in numerous training sessions to be scheduled throughout the Fall and Spring semesters.

Supervision:
