First Parish in Milton is a growing congregation of over 180 adult members and 30 children and youth. It is a vibrant, engaging, civic-minded congregation with historic roots since 1678. Milton is a suburb adjacent to Boston, bordering the neighborhoods of Dorchester, Mattapan and Hyde Park. We are working on congregational goals of greater community outreach, deepening social, environmental and racial justice work, and strengthening the spiritual life of members. "We welcome all to build a just and healthy world, with faith, love and compassion" is our guiding statement.
Opportunities for Student Involvement:
We are currently seeking a field education student who wants to grow in their understanding of membership development, youth advising work, and lifespan religious education administration. A student will also have the opportunity to preach once or twice during the year and develop and carry through projects that match both congregational need and student interest in consultation with supervisor. We expect a student with a high level of maturity, an ability to hold sensitive information with care, take responsibility for his/her own development, and be willing to bring her/his unique skills and gifts to the larger ministry of the congregation.
Commute/Transportation Information:
First Parish Milton is accessible by MBTA red line and bus service from Ashmont Station. The bus service in particular can be unreliable, so access to a car for non-rush hour travel is desirable.

Supervision:
The student will meet with the supervisor once a week, and, if in an internship, with an internship committee once a month
