Organization Description:

Fourth Church is a small (135 members, many friends) Protestant congregation in the Andrew Square section of South Boston, a predominantly Catholic urban community. The neighborhood is generally low-to-middle income and the church itself is situated between three housing projects. The congregation is very committed to serving their community (through, for example, a food pantry, neighborhood youth programs, a seniors club, a free summer day camp, musical theater for kids, tutoring, a community music and art program, lay visitation, and community organizing with GBIO). Bible studies, prayer groups and other small group activities are also centrally important as the congregants seek to help each other on their Christian paths.

Opportunities for Student Involvement:

The opportunities for students are varied and could include: administering the tutoring or music/art program, community organizing, developing ESOL program, preaching/worship, adult education, children's programming, visitation or initiating a new program.
