This course is designed for students in their first field education placement concurrent with the academic year. It focuses on exploring the theological dimensions of students' field education experience. Attendance at one of the two identical introductory sessions on 'Meaning Making: Understanding the Minister's Role in Making Theological Sense of Life Experience' is required of all course participants. Two identical Introduction to Meaning Making lectures will be offered at different times to ensure student attendance. Students will choose one session to attend. The sessions are scheduled on Friday, September 5th at 10am and Tuesday, September 9th at 5pm. Consult course website for room location. At that session, students will be asked to sign up for a class meeting time. Class meeting times are Tuesdays, 5-6:30pm and Thursdays, 8-9:30am or 5-6:30pm. Students will be assigned to one instructor and will meet with the same group on the same evening or morning of the week for the whole year. The course generally meets every other week with the exception of the first several meetings which meet consecutively. The schedule of class meetings also includes a mandatory session called, Role Conflict and Relational Wisdom, in the spring term.
