This course will investigate the linguistic turn in philosophy with special attention to its implications for the theology of sacraments. Reading assignments will investigate structuralist and poststructuralist literary and semiotic theory before turning to contemporary sacramental theology, primarily (though not exclusively) of the Anglo and Roman Catholic traditions. Authors to include Lacan, Derrida, Certeau, Kristeva, Chauvet, Ward, Williams, Pickstock, Marion, and others.
